Sahasi Girls Program

The Sahasi Girls program is an initiative by the Sahas Foundation towards building gender-equitable villages in India. Currently, the program is being implemented in Khushipura village, located 53 km from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The village faces significant challenges including inadequate infrastructure and limited access to Education, Health and livelihood opportunities. The girls in the village drop out at the early age of 13-14 years old, restricted to household chores and then are pushed to early marriages. This leads to teenage pregnancy, subsequent reproductive health issues and increased rate of gender-based violence and continued cycle of poverty.

We at Sahas Foundation are deeply committed to building awareness of girl’s right to have adequate access to education, health, sports and life skills needed for their holistic development.

Sahasi Girls Program include the following components.

  • SRHR and leadership workshops.
  • Feminist Mentorship.
  • Creative endeavours like Art sessions.
  • Education support for girls: Supportive infrastructure for girls to get back, continue and complete their education till class 12. Currently, we are supporting the education of 10 girls.
  • After-School Program: 10+ girls are enrolled in this program to help them with STEM subjects.
  • Sports for Girls.
  • Life skill training – Taekwondo session, Learning English and Digital Literacy.
  • Focus on Physical, Mental and reproductive health.
